The Nigredo
A Shadow Work Journal in Four Alchemical Stages
R 429.00 · Guided Journal · PDF
A safety-first reflection journal in four stages: notice the parts of yourself you have kept hidden, understand the beliefs beneath them, reclaim what was disowned and live more whole.
At a glance
- What it is: a CBT-informed self-reflection journal over twenty-eight days
- Who it's for: anyone curious about their reactions, patterns and hidden strengths, who feels steady enough for gentle self-reflection
- What you'll do: build a grounding kit first, then move through four stages of prompts (noticing, understanding, reclaiming and integrating) and gather what you find in My Gold
- Time: 10–15 minutes a day for four weeks
- Format: 43-page PDF, A5, tappable contents
- Good to know: this is a psychological practice, not a spiritual one, and it sits comfortably alongside any faith; it never asks you to relive painful memories, it is not therapy, and if you are working through trauma, please do so with a trained professional
The origin
The psychologist Carl Jung used the four stages of the old alchemists' workshop as a metaphor for personal growth, and called the parts of ourselves we push away "the shadow". We researched his ideas alongside modern CBT-informed reflection tools and refined them in the lab into a gentle, safety-first practice. The stage names are borrowed images, nothing more.
What this edition offers
- What this kind of reflection is, and isn't, and a grounding kit you build before you begin
- Four weekly stages of prompts: noticing what you keep hidden, understanding the beliefs beneath, reclaiming what was disowned and living as a whole person
- My Gold, where you gather the strengths you find
- When to reach out, with free support lines
How to use it
Build your grounding kit first and keep it close. Then take 10 to 15 minutes a day, moving through one stage a week. Skip any prompt, stop at any time, and practise on steadier days. The Nigredo is CBT-informed and for education and reflection. It is not therapy; working through trauma belongs with a trained professional.
